Those Who Dream

Dear friends,

Today marks the first Sunday of Advent.  It’s the season that begins the Christian year as we wait with great hope for the celebration of Christ coming into our world.  This year we wait in a different posture than we’ve done in previous Advent seasons.  Pre-pandemic many of us struggled to slow down and savor the season.  We were too caught up in the Christmas shopping, the holiday parties, and decorating for the season.  But this year has caused many of us to slow down and take stock of the things that truly matter to us.  Some of you have had your decorations up for weeks because you needed a little joy and light in your life in the midst of so much darkness in our world.  Wherever you find yourself, I pray that you are able to prepare for Christ in a different way this year.  May you notice the light in unexpected places.  May you revel in the joy, hope, and love that Christ embodies.  And may you find the deep and abiding peace that Christ offers each of us through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Blessings,

Rev. Malinda Weaver

Worship with Us during the Advent Season

Our worship theme for the Advent and Christmas seasons focuses on Those Who Dream.  During a time when many of us are dreaming of a better world and a brighter tomorrow, we join with the people from the ancient scriptures who were dreamers just like us.  We join with the prophets and the psalmist … with Mary and Joseph … with the shepherds and the magi … with Simeon and Anna.  All responded faithfully to God’s dreams for their generation.  May we, like them, dream God-sized dreams and work to make them reality.

During Advent, our worship will be entirely online. Join us each Sunday morning at 11:00am on our Facebook or YouTube pages.  To worship with us via YouTube, click here.  To worship via Facebook, click here.
