What is ASP?
ASP is a ministry partnership between Avondale UMC and Canterbury UMC for outreach and mission in the Avondale community. Our two churches formed ASP in 2013 to be a “Community Hub for Christian Service.” Housed in the Avondale UMC gymnasium building, ASP brings together people from Avondale, Canterbury, and the surrounding community to facilitate the sort of connections between neighbors (businesses included!) that improve everyone's lives.
What does ASP do?
The work of ASP focuses particularly on helping people who are on the margins and making sure they have programs that honor their God-given dignity. We provide home repair work for those who can't afford it; we provide social workers and healthcare support; we provide after school activities; and we provide food assistance to food-insecure individuals and families in our area.
What is our Fundraising Goal & Deadline?
With the help of church members and friends of Avondale UMC and Canterbury UMC, our goal is to raise $20,000 by this Sunday, September 15. If just 100 people give $200, that will pay for more than 90 families to participate in the Food Co-op this year and so much more!
Where should I make my donation?
You can donate online by following clicking this link – Avondale Samaritan Place. Please make your donation by Sunday, September 15. If you prefer to write a check, please make your check payable to Avondale Samaritan Place and drop it in the offering plate this Sunday or mail to 3829-5th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35222.
