A Letter from our Director

Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Avondale United Methodist Church Parents’ Day Out (PDO) Program. We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child. Our commitment is to provide a loving, learning atmosphere for your child to grow. We also intend to provide your child with the highest quality of care possible within a Christian environment.

Our Parents’ Day Out program is constantly growing and changing to better meet the needs of your child. We are counting on your support, feedback, and suggestions to help us as we grow. We know this year will be a positive experience for your child and your family as we grow together in God’s love. Thank you for sharing your child with us. We promise to give the best of ourselves to care for your child. Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding any questions or concerns you might have.

Sincerely,
Terri Hall

About PDO

The Parents' Day Out ministry (PDO) at Avondale United Methodist Church is a program for children 6-weeks through 4K.  PDO is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (Tuesdays & Thursdays only during the summer). During their time with us our trained staff will provide your child with a safe, nurturing learning environment in which your child can thrive.

The PDO Philosophy

PDO offers more than childcare; it is a dynamic learning environment in which children participate in age-appropriate activities and lessons designed to foster cognitive, physical, spiritual, and social development. Our program is one of the most respected part-time preschool programs in the area. Our graduates enter kindergarten with a solid foundation in the language, math, and social skills they will need to succeed and the moral foundation that will help them become who God dreams they can be.

How the Program Works

PDO is available to children who are at least 6-weeks old through five years old (pre-kindergarten).

School Year

During the school year the program operates three days per week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Children may be registered for all three days, or kids under 3 may optionally be registered for 1 or 2 days. Classes run from September through mid-May with a Christmas break and a spring break.

Summer

Our summer program, which runs in June and July, is divided into two three-week terms. Our summer program is available only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children may attend one day or both days.

Times

For both the school-year and summer program, drop-off is 9:00 am. Pickup is at 1:00 pm. Early drop-off and late-pickup are not allowed.

Applications

There is limited availability in all classrooms and spaces are assigned based on the order in which completed applications are received. After your application and registration fee are received, a representative from the PDO will contact you to confirm receipt of your application and to discuss your child's placement.

After being offered a placement, your child's final admission will be contingent upon receiving the required STATE OF ALABAMA – CERTIFICATE OF IMMUNIZATION from your child's pediatrician.

Registration Fee

The PDO assesses a non-refundable registration fee of $125.00 for each child's application.  No application will be considered until the registration fee payment has been received.
